All You Need to Know About Enrique Peña Nieto
The latest darling of Mexico's political scene is the handsome Enrique Peña Nieto. It is safe to say that prevailing opinion holds him the top contender among the candidates. The other candidates have good reason to worry about Nieto.
Nieto has been getting steadily more and more popular for a while now. Nieto is famous for his mastery of the theatrical side of the political sphere. Nieto also happens to be an extremely charismatic person, with an innate magnetism.
Some of the critics are prone to saying that Nieto's repute is all due to a supposed deal he made with the most influential TV network in Mexico. The allegation is that money changed hands with the result that the TV network agreed to do Nieto's campaign advertising for him. It is said that this is why the media giant keeps advertising the highlights of the politician's career.
These speculations came about after Pena Nieto announced on national television his romantic relationship with Angelica Rivera. The woman happens to be a superstar of Mexican TV. The man's first wife was Monica Pretelini, who had already passed away.
Pena Nieto and Pretelini had three children, namely Paulina, Alejandro and Nicole. It was while Nieto was functioning as a governor for the state of Mexico that his first wife died. Ladies became more interested in Nieto after that, seeking to become the next Mrs. Nieto.
This popularity with the ladies makes up only a portion of his repute. He has also gained attention for having gone around his former area of authority to find out what the locals needed and for working hard to resolve the demands. He placed infrastructure and public work projects as high priority items in his political agenda.
When the infrastructure stated in these compromisos were finally erected, Pena Nieto turned into massive social affairs the inauguration of multiple public works projects week after week. It is little wonder that Nieto's repute is that of a person who can stay true to his word. While these launching ceremonies were successful in heightening his public appeal, his critics point out that organizing these assemblies cost more than the public works projects being launched.
Nieto also got some flak for something that happened in the Guadalajara Book Fair. It was discovered during the fair that Nieto was not capable of remembering the names of the people who had written some of his "top" books to read. Nieto's reason was that he preferred to expend more time remembering the body of the book instead of what was on its cover.
His detractors basically had a field day when this happened. Paulina, Nieto's first daughter, was quite emotional about the issue and also gave out a scathing portrayal of the people ridiculing her father. Even now, in spite of all the politician's efforts to stem the critics, they are still making fun of him for his alleged lack of intellectualism.
It is a shame, Enrique Peña Nieto claims, that so much of his speech ends up being taken apart and decontextualized. That aside, he remains the people's favorite for the elections. His is the strongest bid due to the voting population's fondness of him.
